The Hoy Creek Salmon Hatchery is designed to enhance the salmon stocks within Hoy/Scott creek watershed. Together with the help of the Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, our volunteers follow a set of guidelines that will help ensure a greater percentage of the salmon fry survive their first year.
We have a section of the hatchery building which is used to raise the eggs, another area along the outside of the hatchery is used to raise the fry until they are large enough to be transferred to the rearing pond, adjacent to the creek.
The ultimate goal of the hatchery program is to have a self-sufficient natural breeding population in the creek.
