Hoy/Scott Watershed Society operates a small salmon hatchery, and conducts a salmon enhancement program in Coquitlam. In addition, we steward the Hoy and Scott Watershed regions, promote public awareness and education. We are also involved with watershed restoration and preservation.
The Hoy/Scott Watershed Society supports one of the most significant sub-watersheds in Coquitlam. The group regularly conducts creek and riparian restoration, and is politically active with respect to local environmental issues.
We have about 14 active volunteers, who belong to our organization. Our volunteers have a variety of backgrounds, which assist in the operation of this group. The Hoy/Scott Watershed Society functions in partnership with the City of Coquitlam Parks and Open Spaces, and is assisted by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Throughout the past year, by creating public awareness with the community about urban activities that interfere with salmon habitat, we believe our society has served as a benefit to our local environment. We are involved with improving salmon habitat, and protecting the natural beauty of Hoy and Scott creeks, that so many residents, local and abroad, rely on for recreation.
